Petra Pecková is a Czech politician who was re-elected governor of the Central Bohemian Region this fall. She spent sixteen years as an investigative journalist, then decided to switch from describing problems to solving them and entered politics. She first became deputy mayor and eventually mayor, and in 2020, she became governor for the first time.
Since then, the Central Bohemian region has moved up in the ranking of regions in terms of transparency and has become a leader in many other areas - from digitalisation to public transport to the treatment of those who are most vulnerable, such as abandoned children from children's homes and related foster care or victims of domestic violence. From her days in politics at the local level, she has worked extensively on issues related to education. She considers the quality of education, support for entrepreneurship, science and research to be a priority task in the management of the Central Bohemian Region.
Petra Pecková always wants to be on the side of the citizens. She sees them as her boss in the world of politics. She believes that the best way to use one's energy is to help others. She wants to continue to move the Central Bohemian Region forward and show the people people that politics can be done decently and honestly.
